Same great racing, same great locations, same great format.  Register early online and save some $$$$$.  Racing begins on New Years Eve with a 10km classic mass start race on the challenging terrain of Battle Creek Park in St. Paul on the newly renovated SuperTour Trails.  Racing concludes Sunday with a 15km skate pursuit at Wirth Park in Minneapolis.  Options to race one day or both available.  Awards based on overall finish for both days.

• 1.1.11 (8:05pm) Start lists for Day 2 can be found here:  http://www.endurancepromotions.com/?p=1533 (if you are a freestyle only racer, you will be added to the start list in the morning).  All racers will be out within 20 minutes of race start (so 10:20am) Bib pick-up: ALL racers need a new bib and timing chip tomorrow – so make sure to get to registration by 9:15a.m. – that is when it closes! Grooming: Just off the phone with the groomers at Wirth, they will be out in the PB at 3am (yea, not a typo) – to till and prep the course.  Should be very nice skate conditions.  Weather update:  Lows appear to be -4, but rising to 1 or 2 by race start.  However, if the temp is below -5, or the wind chill is colder than -20 at race start, we will delay 1hour.

• 12.31.10 (9:30pm) Final groom is complete.  Double track is set. Turned out very good.  Won’t regroom unless we get more than 2 inches of snow.

• 12.31.10Venue change:  ALERT-  the classic race has been moved to Green Acres in Lake Elmo.  The ice was too much for the trails at Battle Creek, and without a PB, the back up site will need to be utilized.   Same Start time.  Kids race will start at 11:15

1.2.10 (10 pm) -

Start lists are posted here:  Men /  Women /  HS(girls & boys)
Race starts at noon…and again, be green and car pool.  Race will start in the new stadium area up behind the Chalet on top of the hill.  4 lanes of starters-   1 each for men, women, HS boys, HS girls.  All division leaders begin at noon.  Remaining starters will begin based on time behind from Saturday’s race.  Single Day racers will begin at the end.  Awards will be in the chalet at approx 2pm, or 15mins after the final finisher.  HS racers will race 1 x5km loop.  Adults 2 x 7.5km loop.

1.2.10 (2 pm) -

Start time on Sunday will be delayed until noon due to the forecasted cold temperaters Saturday night.  On-site registration will open at 9 am.

1.1.10 (10 pm) -

Final grooming is being finished as we speak.  Track varies – some places very full, other places thin.  Snow is coarse and abrasive.  Will be very cold – be prepared and be smart.  Battle Creek has 120+ parking spots – then overflow on city streets.  Be Green – car pool to save room and the earth.  Registration will be open at 9am.  At this time, the kids race will start at the completion of the adult race- approximately 1:00 (use good judgment with your children as this is very cold weather).   Men start first, followed 2 minutes later by the women, then 2 more to the HS (boys/girls combined).  As noted earlier, the 5km loop at Battle Creek will be used.

1.1.10 (2 pm) -

We will delay the start of Saturday’s race until noon due to the forecasted cold temperatures overnight Friday.  The kids race will begin upon completion of the adult race (approx 1:15pm).  Mass start wavaes will remain the same – Men, followed 2 minutes later by women, followed 2 minutes later by HS racers.

1.1.10 (6am) -

All systems are go.  We have nearly 200 racers ready to tackle the best the Twin Cities has to offer.  Battle Creek will get a final groom tonight.  Early bib pick-up is at Finn Sisu tonight 6-8pm.  Only concern is cold at this time.  The new weather graphs indicate now that it WILL warm-up and winds die down as the day progresses instead of staying flat.  A call on delaying the start time by an hour will be made later today – check back.

12.30.09 -

Race Organizers skied both courses today and finalized the courses and grooming for the weekend.  Battle Creek will be final groomed late Friday night with a double track set throughout.  The race will be held on the 5km loop – so 2 x 5km for the adults, 1x5km for HS.  Sunday’s race course  will be groomed late Sat/early Sun if it is too hard and will be 3 x 5km loop at Wirth – Snowmaking loop + some of the woods on back 9 (1 x 5km for HS kids).  Early online Pre-Registration closes Thurs at Midnight.  Early bib pickup is Friday at Finn Sisu from 6-8pm.

NOTE – due to cold, the start may be delayed an hour on Saturday – check back for that update as it nears.

GearWest’s 1st Place Age-Group Award – All age group winners in both the men’s and women’s races based on the pursuit finish (19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+) will receive Craft long underwear!

Finn Sisu’s 2nd Place Age-Group Award – All age group winners in both the men’s and women’s races based on the pursuit finish (19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+) will receive a stone grind for a pair of skis!

Rossignol’s 3rd Place Age Group Award – All age group winners in both the men’s and women’s races based on the pursuit finish (19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+) will receive Rossignol merchandise!

A children’s MYSL race will be held on Saturday following the adults race.  Registration for the kids race is day-of only and is $5.
