Two days of Nordic ski racing returns to Minneapolis/St. Paul, Dec 31-Jan 1, 2012. Racing begins on Dec . 31 with a mass-start 10km classic race (5km for juniors) on the challenging terrain of Battle Creek park in St. Paul.  Saturday will also feature a full compliment of kids races.  On Sunday, Jan. 1, racing concludes with a 15km pursuit start (7.5km for juniors) on the newly renovated trails of Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis. At the end of it all, we’ll crown the champions of the Twin Cities—an honor that has been held by many former Olympians and Birkie champions. In addition, we’ll have high school divisions, children’s races, great prizes and plenty of fun for everyone.  Race both days or just one (champions crowned based on results from both days).  Snow making back up sites have been secured…the races will go on!

7:30 – 9:30 am>> On-site registration opens and bib pickup, Battle Creek Rec. Center

10:00 am>> 10km (5km for HS racers) mass start classic race begins  (separate starts for Men, Women, H.S. girls and H.S.boys)

11:00 am>> MYSL Kids racing begins.  5 & under–100 meter sprint/flat;  6 & 7yr–.75 km, flat; J5 8 & 9yr–1.0 km, easy to moderate terrain; J4 10 & 11yr–2 km, moderate terrain; J3 12 & 13yr–2 km, moderate terrain

Sunday, January 1

7:30 – 9:15 am>> On-site registration opens and bib pickup, Wirth Chalet.

10:00 am>> 15km ( 7.5Km for HS racers) freestyle pursuit starts begin (for those within 10min of leaders from Saturday’s results.  Following pursuit starters, all others (including one-day racers) will start individually in 15sec intervals.

1:00 pm>> Awards in Wirth Chalet.
